Southport Jazz Festival

I lost my dad over the summer and for the last few years of his life he had developed dementia, that horribly destructive condition that takes your loved one away right before your eyes. The amazing thing was that he may have forgotten many things but he still remembered the lyrics to his favourite songs.

With this in mind, I decided to try an experiment in my lovely mum’s pensioner’s club. I sang and used instruments to give everyone a really immersive experience and we all had an absolute blast! It was also Dad’s last concert making it even more poignant.

It showed me the magical power that music can have for people who may seem difficult to reach in other ways.

My plan, with funding, is to take small bands into care homes and pensioners clubs to have fun and get creative with instruments and voices, unlocking some memories from happier times. I’d love you to watch these videos of me making a total fool of myself and having a wonderful time with these incredible people and, if you feel that you want to come on board as a partner to get this project off the ground then please feel free to get in touch.
